Google My Business
If you’re a local business owner, a Google My Business (GMB) profile is one of the most important components for your local internet marketing.
Your Google My Business page (GMB) is one of the most important local search engine ranking factors and thanks to your GMB page you can:
- provide your clients with information about your business such as your address, opening hours, phone number, website address etc.
- display your business on Google Maps
- display information about your business directly on the Search Engine Results Page
- reply to reviews of your business (your business will probably already be on Google Maps whether you signed up for the service or not. Claiming an existing GMB page allows you to take control over your GMB page)
And most importantly you can provide a short description of your business so it will be more likely that Google users will find it when searching for your services.
To register your company go to the Google My Business page and click the “Start Now” button.
After this you will be prompted with an easy set-up process where you fill in the basic information about your business, the most important thing here is choosing the right Business Category for your listing, based on your business category Google will recommend (or not) your company to its search engine users.
At the end of this process you will have to choose your notification method, the best one here is “Postcard by mail” which “May take up to 5 days to arrive”. You’ll get a postcard from Google with a verification code so they can verify that you are in fact located at the address where you are claiming to be located.
In the meantime, you can start filing your company details into the GMB dashboard.
